This Summer at D.J. Quinn’s

This Summer at D.J. Quinn’s

There’s nothing quite like a Great British summer, rain or shine spirits are high as the nights grow longer. To make the most of these summer nights we have loads of live music and events planned at D.J Quinn’s, full of new faces and familiar ones!

We’re known for having weekends full of live music, and this summer is no different! Birmingham’s own incredibly talented Esther Turner kicks things off on Saturday, 6th July with acoustic renditions of her dance pop hits. Then on Sunday, 7th July The Wild Irish combine traditional music with live fiddle, guitar and percussions, playing in the Irish music scene for almost 25 years.

Tuning up every second Friday of the month Sean Kenwrick hosts one of the UK’s leading Trad Sessions, welcoming contributors from all over the Midlands. Tunes, spoken word, yarns and a good old sing song characterises the sessions and sets them apart from the rest. Anyone is welcome to join, and all contributors will get a pint (or something to wet the whistle) for taking part. The next Trad Session will take place from 8:30pm on Friday, 12th July.

On July 13th we welcome a brand new artist to D.J. Quinn’s: Kelly Underwood. This young, local artist is known for her amazing covers of well loved favourites, as well as hosting jam sessions and open mic nights around Birmingham, catch her playing live for the first time here on Saturday, 13th July!

Also to come this month: Loz Rabone, Swim With Sharks, Heed, Jason Pegg, Hotwired, Charlotte Young, James Reidy and many more. See our full events on our events page.

Have you been to our weekly open mic nights yet? Alternating between hosts Sean Kenwrick and Sally Rea Morris (Gasoline and Matches), these Thursday night music sessions are the perfect chance for singers young and old, seasoned and new to take up the mic and perform. There’s also a songwriters round at Sally Rea Morris’ nights, which is a chance for you to show off your own material! Join us every Thursday from 8pm for free, there’s even house guitars available for you to use during your set.

Want to be let in on a little secret? The Trad Fest Fundraiser will make it’s return to D.J Quinn’s this August! A full announcement with more information is to come soon, so keep your eyes on our social media pages to be the first to know! Last year’s Trad Fest Fundraiser saw The Deluge, John Kiernan, James Reidy, Eunan Murphy and Trad Lash perform to raise money for the Birmingham festival that champions and celebrates local Irish music.
