One year of D.J. Quinn’s

One year of D.J. Quinn’s

On Friday, June 1st, 2018, we opened our doors for the first time after months of painting, tiling, decorating and planting. Our opening weekend is one of our favourite memories of the past year, luckily we get to do it all over again this year!

We’re celebrating what an incredible first year its been the only way we know how, with a weekender of live music and craic! Three days of (just a few) of our favourite artists, plus edge-of-your-seat live sports and more from Friday, May 31st to Sunday, June 2nd with our first birthday officially being on Saturday, June 1st!

Kicking things off on Friday, June 1st is James Reidy, a young musician who has been making his way around the Irish music scene. He’s performed all over Birmingham including here, where he filled our pub with dancing all night long. He’ll be live on May 31st from 8:30pm!

On Saturday, 1st June, Mother Popcorn take the stage from 8:30pm. Expect all the pop and funk classics from the 1960s to today, including The Jam, The Kinks, The Beatles, Roxy Music, Prince, The Cure, Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder and loads more. Plus, the UEFA Champion’s League Final Liverpool V Tottenham will be on our big screens from 8pm, so you won’t miss any of the action!

As well as Hot Wired joining us on Sunday, June 2nd, we will be showing live football and GAA coverage all weekend in between all the celebrating! The birthday weekender is free entry all weekend, plus kids are welcome until 7pm every night.

It’s been an incredible year for D.J. Quinn’s, and we’re grateful to be a part of the Birmingham Irish community. Hosting the Trad Fest fundraiser was a great opportunity that we hope to honour again in 2019. We’ve also started to host our own Trad sessions once a month, as well as weekly open mic nights with Sally Rea Morris and Sean Kenwrick. We have lots of plans in the works to improve our outdoor area and bring you even more music, so watch this space!

We’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of 2019 holds, and hope you join us along the way. If there’s anything you’d like to see at D.J. Quinn’s, or if you have any ideas or feedback, why not let us know on our Facebook page?
